For at im\u00f8degaa denne udvikling foreslog FSB at bygge en Midtbane med linief\u00f8ringen Lillestr\u00f8m &#8211; Havanger &#8211; Almbag med det formaal at lede de mange godstog fra Indlandet til Jomsborg udenom Freja. Det unders\u00f8gtes ogsaa at elektrificere Albatros &#8211; Jomsborg, men det ansaas ikke for at v\u00e6re gennemf\u00f8rligt med den dav\u00e6rende teknologi. Midtbanen blev optaget i stambaneplanen, og den 85\u00bd <a href=\"http:\/\/fjelland.dk\/?page_id=191\">fodtur<\/a> lange Midtbane blev bygget i perioden 1901-1915.
